The spirits themselves could have never predicted we’d be floating through the EDC Las Vegas gates at the end of October but here we are, 3 weeks out from the spookiest EDC ever. If you’re venturing to the desert for Insomniac’s flagship event you’ll need a solid plan (and maybe some layers) to navigate the absolutely bonkers lineup Pasquale has brewed in his cauldron. Just like going door to door on Halloween, each stage is giving out its own cacophony of candy. Let’s go stage to stage and see what kind of delectable sweets are being served up for us creepy little ravers.
Red Hots and Fireballs
There’s no shortage of spicy beats at the Speedway but if you’re looking to put your tastebuds to the test there are some bookings that will answer the call. Saturday Lil Texas takes the Wasteland stage with his absolutely blazing arsenal of hardcore that will singe your eyebrows clear off if you dare make it to the rail. Pro tip: he’s been known to lose articles of clothing as the set heats up. If you’re craving more fire, SAYMYNAME, known for sets that range from snarling trap to soaring ballads, is scheduled for a can’t miss hardstyle set, allowing him to put all of his focus on a genre he’s passionate about. Finally on Sunday, Infected Mushroom will ignite every sense you have available to you with their absolutely insane collection of bonified rave classics. Ever eaten a warhead? Yeah, it’s like that but for your ears.
Snickers and Milky Ways
You can’t celebrate the 25 years of EDC without enjoying some classic, wholesome favorites and there’s no shortage of absolute legends at this years festival. Friday welcomes Swedish superstar Alesso, an icon of electronic music, responsible for hits like “If I Lose Myself”, “City of Dreams” and “Falling”. Tiesto takes the decks day 2 for what is sure to be an astounding display on the main stage with all the pyro you can handle. For that last bit of delicious nostalgia, Kaskade arrives Sunday to take attendees through a decades long journey through his greatest hits as well as newest tracks.
Black Licorice and Candy Corn
Now, now, these candies aren’t bad, they’re just polarizing, they get the people going. Let’s face it, if no one bought them, they wouldn’t continue making them amirite? The beauty of EDC is there is something for everyone, but it’s pretty likely not everyone likes everything. Some music is an acquired taste or perhaps a taste you once had but moved on over the years. Which brings us to The Chainsmokers, a surprising booking in the year of our lord and savior 2021. Say what you will, but this duo introduced an entire generation to electronic dance music, truly providing the soundtrack to many an amazing house party or wild night at the club. The probability is low, but if “Selfie” wafted through the air under the electric sky it would be hard to not smile and dance – the video has almost 600 million views on YouTube, maybe you’re one of them. Moving on to other DJs that elicit a chaotic response, according to the latest lineup image, John Summit is playing Friday and Sunday. Some may be delighted while others may be wondering why the self proclaimed cockroach of tech house is getting double the exposure. We’re sure EDM Twitter will get that all figured out by the time EDC rolls around.
Hi-Chew
Do you remember the first time you ingested a Hi-Chew? Magical! If Hi-Chews were sets, here are some artists that will truly bring a burst of flavor to your EDC experience. LP Giobbi, a sweet journey through house music. KSHMR, an exotic experience that will leave you breathless. Walker & Royce, the strawberry and banana of irresistible dance music. These delicious explosions are what EDC is all about, the punch in the mouth that keeps loyal veterans coming out to the Speedway year after year.
Godiva Chocolates
Elite chocolates can only be paired with the most elite of DJs, those who have spent years perfecting the ingredients of their sets like seasoned chocolatiers, adding more milk or less sugar when needed. In chronological order, Alison Wonderland, Deadmau5, 12th Planet (blessing attendees with a throwback set), Maceo Plex, Dubfire/Nicole Moudaber/Paco Osuna, Knife Party, Wildstylez and Zomboy are sets that cannot be missed. Melt in your mouth, absolutely unforgettable moments are on the horizon for these artists and you won’t want to be the one holding the empty wrapper wishing you had witnessed the greatness.
Prepare your pillow cases, paper bags, spooky sacks for the most epic load of candy you’ve ever laid eyes on, beginning Friday, October 22nd. Tickets are still available here if the thought of missing out is haunting you. An autumn EDC is truly an anomaly and will most likely go down as one of the most highly anticipated returns to Las Vegas ever!
