Everywhere in the world could be considered art

But some places are like being inside of art’s heart

Places where you can look inside a gem

While hearing its corresponding jams

From February 2nd to February 4th, we experienced a gorgeous gathering of souls for a Gemmin and Jammin 2024 festival. Starting the moment we went into the gates, we were immersed into a land of authentic expression, creativity, and nourishment. Walking alongside forest fairies, playful kittens, fiery dragons, and a wide array of other beings, the grounds welcomed us in with rows of creatives and their works – gems of all shapes and sizes, third eye pinecone necklaces, flow toys, and more. 

Facet-nating Foundations  

What sound does an emerald make? 

How long would that song take? 

By combining the stunning beauty and depth of both the gems and the music, the entire weekend glimmered with multi-faceted experiences. About every 3 feet there was a completely new experience – like looking at a gem and slightly shifting the light to see a completely new perspective. 

The Quartz stage was set closest to the entrance, welcoming in attendees with a cleansing, boppy energy that was vibrant with flow – ers, dancers, slacklines, and a colorful tapestry-like cover over the top of the ground of the stage. 

The energy of the Quartz stage blended nicely into the Quilted Rummage installation – an immersive, poetic experience giving Alice in Wonderland vibes featuring a tree of attendee’s deepest memories of their relationship with music. 

Following the relaxing flow, we found ourselves being rejuvenated with chai, cacao, cuddle puddles, and mind expanding conversations at the Dewomp station. 

The heart of the layout held installations and live artists grooving along to the Emerald main stage. Giant crystals lined the stage that hosted a plethora of incredible artists including Gone Gone Beyond, The Disco Biscuits, Of The Trees, Daily Bread, and nature’s sky paintings as a backdrop every evening.

The Onyx stage had us diving into the depths of the darkness with sound chefs serving up wubs and womps into the wee hours of the night. The entire stage was set inside the fairground’s main building with art installations and live artists sprinkled around. 

Need a little break from the dancing? Feel free to sit on a couch made of stuffed animals or inside a giant geometric light up shape. 

Stepping outside of the Onyx portal, we found ourselves quickly in a new sound vibration traveling from the Opal stage. This stage may have been a bit smaller, yet packed a powerful menu of artists through booming speakers and turned into the silent disco at night.

Who’s ready to be back at The Farm?
Bonnaroo has dropped their 2024 lineup and it’s time to get excited. This year will take place from Thursday June 13th-Sunday June 16th in Manchester, Tennessee and will feature 4 days worth of jaw-dropping musical talent and lots of fun side quests and activities.

This year’s lineup features the return of Pretty Lights headlining main stage on Thursday night and with a second sunrise set. The crazy Aussie house artist Fisher will also be headlining Thursday. Friday will see the likes of genre-bending Post Malone, psychedelic soul funk Khruangbin, ethereal vocalist Maggie Rogers, melodic dubstep Seven Lions, and the jam covers of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead. Saturday will bring a much anticipated set from Red Hot Chili Peppers, baby girl Melanie Martinez, EDM zaddy Diplo, 2010s indie sleaze rock Cage the Elephant, disco/electropop Parcels, and dancehall rapper Sean Paul. Last but not least, Sunday will close down the weekend with the iconic, genre-creating Fred Again.., 2000’s emo Taking Back Sunday, female rap icon Megan Thee Stallion, and bubblegum pop girlie Ashnikko.

This year Bonnaroo is also focusing a lot of its efforts towards sustainability – initiatives like Bonnaroo Works Fund, Planet Roo and BonnaROOTS dinners will all work towards achieving a more sustainable Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo Works Fund (BWF) was created as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Thanks to the support of fans around the world, BWF contributes to remarkable nonprofits and programs. Through the values of community, creativity, and positive influence, BWF champions those changing the world through arts, education, sustainability, and social impact. Planet Roo is presented by the Bonnaroo Works Fund and will be an area for festival goers to a take a break in – a haven for sustainability, wellness, and global consciousness. With representation from a diverse group of non-profit organizations, this space is an opportunity to learn, relax, and get inspired to take impactful action. More information will be announced about the exciting projects Planet Roo has in the works for this area for this year!

Each night of the festival will feature a BonnaROOTS dinner where everyone attending sits down and enjoys a beautiful, locally-sourced meal. BonnaROOTS are the annual locally-sourced sunset feasts supporting grassroots causes—Oxfam America and Eat for Equity. VERY special guests join these dinners for an unforgettable meal on The Farm. Past years, people found themselves sitting next to Bonnaroo co-founders, Bonnaroo producers, artists, activists and an assortment of Bonnaroovians with an appetite for soulfully good food. Together, you’ll eat, drink, and raise thousands of dollars for the greater good. All proceeds from your dinner ticket purchase support 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Dinner tickets are an optional add-on at checkout when purchasing festival tickets.

Additionally, festival goers who are feeling generous and inspired to support more of Bonnaroo’s greening initiatives and sustainability projects are welcome to opt-in to the Sustainability Add-On with a ticket purchase. Donations made will go towards off-setting the carbon footprint of Bonnaroo attendees, recycling and waste management initiatives, and various other positive impact programs.

Some important information to note from this post is there WILL BE NO GRiZMAS, Space Camp, or NYE shows this year AND next year. This news may come as a shock to those who regularly attend these curated events, but another thing to note is GRiZ’s last headline show/curated event will be in October at an intimate venue that he has been wanting to play for quite some time. GRiZ mentioned that the show will be announced at some point this week, so prepare to submit your PTO and book your accommodations!

Coachella Music Festival announces its iconic lineup this week for its 2024 edition. This year, the festival will take place across two weekends – April 12th-14th and April 19th-21st and will take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. This year’s lineup features headliners Lana Del Rey for Friday, Tyler, the Creator for Saturday and Doja Cat for Sunday.

In addition, Friday will also see up-and-coming reggaeton artist Peso Pluma, pioneers of electronic music Justice, techno queen Peggy Gou, and alternative punk rock gods Deftones. Other notable names on Friday include old school UK grunge bass Skepta, the angelic voice of Suki Waterhouse, minimal techno Adriatique and BLOND:ISH, pounding techno up-and-comer Miss Monique, and genreless Tinashe.

Saturday will boast the female rap icon Ice Spice, the 10-piece alternative funk band Jungle, old school dark industrial pioneer Gesaffelstein, techno stars Charlotte de Witte and Reiner Zonnevald, 90s nostalgic ska Sublime, and the ethereal vocals of Grimes.

The weekends will close out with reggaeton star J Balvin, french electro house DJ Snake, 2000’s emo Taking Back Sunday, psychedelic soul funk Khruangbin, slow vibey R&B Jhené Aiko, and last but not least – the ska punk legendary No Doubt with lead singer Gwen Stefani.

In addition, Coachella and YouTube Presents have collaborated to make a Coachella documentary: “20 Years In the Desert” showcasing iconic moments at the festival from its inception in 1999. Forever Midnight will surely not only attract tourists that flock to Las Vegas as an escape from their more monotonous hometowns, it’s a welcome addition for Las Vegas locals who grow weary of the trip to Southern California as well as the traffic that greets them upon their trek back. A two-day celebration boasting two hosted stages, appropriately named Forever and Midnight, the level of talent is nothing to scoff at. Some of the biggest names in electronic dance music will take the stage from the awe-inspiring Eric Prydz night one to reigning royalty John Summit on night two.

NIGHT ONE – DECEMBER 30

The debut of Forever Midnight has a slightly more subdued feel, perhaps an appropriate preparation for attendees before the grandiose night two lineup. But don’t confuse subdued for dull because it will be nothing of the sort. Night one is a tasty dose of progressive house, tasty techno and perhaps even a little trance mixed in. Enter the festival ready to hear anything really as many of these DJs can do it all, with renowned brand Factory 93 assuming hosting duties for the Forever Stage. Early in the evening Deeper Purpose is sure to set the mood with his hard-to-sit-still-to brand of house. The intriguing B2B of DJ Tennis and Chloé Caillet is one not to miss on the Midnight Stage. Anjuna veterans Tinlicker will be a wonderfully ethereal experience, leading festival goers into the remaining hours of the penultimate evening of 2023.

NIGHT TWO – DECEMBER 31

Many artists on the docket for New Year’s Eve need no introduction. Insomniac pulled out all the stops for the party that will lead attendees into the new year, landing absolute legends like Green Velvet, Nicole Moudaber, MK, Kaytranada and the list goes on. It’s no coincidence that much of the lineup reads like a night (and morning) spent at Space Miami, the world-famous club has assisted in curating the talent for the Midnight Stage. This will mark the first time Space has made a landing in Las Vegas and let’s face it, the two cities are quite the match. Speaking of Miami, the night culminates with everyone’s favorite MIA resident, John Summit, who will be fresh off of his sold-out L.A. stadium show.

The expansive venue is sure to be decked out in true Insomniac fashion, complete with eye-popping art installations and endless photo ops. Being that the event is in Las Vegas, we will take the over on the presence of impressive pyro and roving talent as well. Since Resorts World also serves as Hotel EDC, we’re thinking they’ve got a pretty good idea of how to spice up the joint.
