The Queen City’s top music festival is returning for another weekend of music, food, and beer along the Ohio River! Taking place June 5-7 throughout Sawyer Point and Yeatman’s Cove in downtown Cincinnati, Bunbury Music Festival boasts a diverse lineup covering virtually every genre. This year’s lineup features Twenty One Pilots, Marshmello, and The Avett Brothers as the headliners along with other performances from Kane Brown, Black Bear, Matt Maeson, Neon Trees, The Struts and many, many more.
The Boys Are Back In Town
Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph of Twenty One Pilots are no strangers to the city of Cincinnati. Having grown up in Columbus, less than 100 miles away, the duo started their musical careers playing smaller venues throughout this area in 2009. Three years later while performing at a sold-out LC Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio the band announced that they had been signed by Fueled By Ramen. During the announcement Tyler emphasize how important the core group of fans from Ohio have been to the band. Since the signing the band has produced three full length album and a number of other projects supported by a couple headlining world tours. The duo has also won dozens of awards including a Grammy, a BBC Radio award, seven Billboard Music Awards, and dozens of others.
This years Bunbury performance will be the bands third time playing the festival and the first time they will be taking the stage as a headliner. Having headlined other music festivals including Boston Calling, Lollapalooza, Hangout, Outside Lands, and Firefly to name a few, the duo are no strangers to the main stage spotlight and are making their return with plenty of experience. The band always have something special up their selves when they return to their home state and Bunbury Music Festival will be no exception!
Collaboration Potential & Remaining Performers
One of the most exciting and beloved things about music festivals is the potential for collaborations among artists. This years Bunbury lineup already has a few potential surprises for us at first glance. Marshmello and Kane Brown have already collaborated on a hit song titled “One Thing Right” crossing EDM with County. If the two are scheduled to perform on the same day then we could potentially see a rare performance of their hit song! Old Crow Medicine Show and Billy Strings have also taken the stage together at past music festivals giving me hope to see it once again! Hip hop collaborations are always full of energy and with Blackbear, Ski Mask The God, and Oliver Tree scheduled to perform this could be a great weekend of collabs! With so many talented musicians in one place, the possibilities are endless. Even if we don’t see a lot of collaborations there are still plenty of bands to be excited about! Nostalgic favorites Cake, Neon Trees, and Angels & Airwaves along with up and coming artists Tones And I, Matt Maeson, and Alec Benjamin are just a few performances that you need to see out of this lineup.
