What About BUKU Though

BUKU hasn’t been around quite a decade, but yet it continuously produces alluring lineups. This year BUKU has pushed it3s date back into late March. The packed two-day lineup has a weird mix of bass heavy beats and chillwave in addition to some funky woodwind and brass sounds with a side of incredible collaborations.

Listen Up!

I keep looking at the lineup to try and narrow down a few artists to talk about but there’s so many. (Two day festival problems.) Excision has consistently had some of the top sets I’ve seen in the last two years. Still looking for that full Moonrise set from this year. G Jones is another artist who throws it down every set, day and night. A$AP Rocky is a big one for me as I’ve never seen him live. His style has clashed rap with trippy vibes to produce a unique sound. I would definitely like to “Get Lit” with A$AP Rocky.

Toro y Moi is another artist I haven’t seen on the lineup. The art portrayed in both his music and videos are perfect for BUKU vibes.

GRiZ and Papadosio are two acts to jazz up the New Orleans festival. And possibly the most anticipated name on the lineup is Dog Blood. A couple friends seemed super excited and for justifiable reason. Turns out Dog Blood is a side project composed of Skrillex and Boys Noize! Yes Skrillex is returning to touring in 2019.

BUKU is one of the for sure spots to catch him. This year there is even a whole group of artists Reppin’ New Orleans. Top to bottom there is music for just about everyone to enjoy. Not to mention the live art being created right before your eyes.

The festival does take place at Mardi Gras World in the Garden District of New Orleans so you’ll definitely want to look for lodging ahead of time. It is wise to stay in the surrounding cities; it’s typically only like a 20 minute UBER/Lyft ride away. There are even a few hostels in town to consider; viable option for solo travelers.

BUKU has multiple arts to offer, after all it is a Music+Art Project in the middle of New Orleans. Early planning almost always ensures better results when it comes to out of town city festivals. If you have not been to BUKU before, this is definitely a year to consider. Tickets go on sale December 11th. Let the planning begin!

See you in New Orleans, LA March 22nd-23rd. Get your tickets here!
