Okee dokee, Okeechobee. We’re officially less than a month out from the return of Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival! As usual, we’re starting to get those “pre-festival butterflies” from the excitement leading up to it. Getting your wristband in the mail, adding the last minute accessories to your outfits, finalizing travel plans — you know the drill.
But whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned Okee veteran, we’re here to give you our favorite tips and tricks on getting the most out of your weekend in Sunshine Grove.
First, let’s start with the music.
Okeechobee is famously known for bringing a widely diverse range of artists, and this year’s lineup did not fall short with headliners ranging from Mumford & Sons to Kaskade and Tipper.
With late additions including GRiZ and the announcement of the PoWow! ceremony being led by Vampire Weekend and friends, each stage will be a completely different experience. You can catch our squad getting down at the Bassrush opening party and some of our must-see sets, like Rufus du Sol, Bassnectar, G Jones, and Glass Animals.
To discover more artists on the Okee 2020 lineup, check out their official Spotify playlist! Trust us, this will basically be a road trip necessity on your way there.
Awesome, the music looks great! But what else does Okeechobee have to offer?
Well…between the eight stages, there’s a lot of ground to cover. You can explore the depths of the lush jungle to find yourself at the tea lounge, soak up the sun or ride the Ferris wheel at Aquachobee beach, or get involved in live yoga classes and healing workshops at Chobeewobee village. Plus, with roaming performers wandering the festival grounds and art installations around every corner, you really never know what you’re going to stumble upon.
Pro tip: toss your schedule out the window. Pace yourself, don’t be afraid to skip a set or two to explore the actual festival, and we highly recommend checking out an artist you haven’t heard of before! Who knows, you might even find a new favorite.
Make sure to also swing by Participation Row in Chobeewobee village this year, where Okeechobee will be teaming up with local non-profit organizations such as Martha’s House and Treasure Coast Food Bank.
And now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the festival camping survival guide 101.
If you’ve camped at a music festival before, you already know how much fun the campgrounds can be. Whether it’s making friends with your neighbors or (if you’re strong-willed) hitting up the RV after party sets until the sun starts to rise, the memories you make there can last a lifetime.
For your added convenience, Okeechobee has put together their camping essentials list to help you get ready. But no need to worry, if you have an “oh crap!” moment and realize you forgot something, there will be general store items available for purchase in the campgrounds.
There will also be daily yoga classes and a healing sanctuary with meditation and massages to start your morning off right before a full day of dancing around.
We can’t wait to join you all in entering the portal this March 5-8. Stay tuned for the official Okeechobee app with set times and more information! Single day tickets, weekend passes, and camping packages are available here.
